barrier to early explorers in Ontario. Steep cliffs, rocky ground, and large creeks also made navigation difficult for these adventurers.The Raid the Rib Adventure Run takes place on the Niagara Escarpment so participants can expect lots of technical running and some interesting navigational challenges.
RAID: The "Full Raid" course will have teams of three racing over a 5 hour time limit, on a course that involves intermediate trail running and trekking skills and novice through to advanced navigation skills. (The winning team will still be expected to clean the course and cross the finish line in a 3 to 3 1/2 hr time frame.) Teams have up to five hours to run the "backbone" and complete as many of the optional "ribs" presented along the way. Each of the optional challenges will be rated as green, blue, black diamond and double black diamond difficulty depending on the physical and navigation skills needed to find the checkpoint.
Teams are required to carry personal and team gear and there will be two aid stations on the course.
Choose between the following RAID categories: Coed, Male, Female, Masters (average age over 45).
HALF-RAID: This course is roughly half the distance of the full raid course, with a 3 hour time limit. The Half Raid course will follow the same format as the Raid, with a (shorter) mandatory "backbone" run on the Escarpment complimented with optional challenges ("ribs") presented and rated in a similar manner. Green, blue, black diamond and double black diamond symbols on the map will indicate the difficulty of each optional challenge. Intermediate trail running and trekking ability and beginner to intermediate navigation skills are recommended. Teams are required to carry personal and team gear and there will be an aid station on the course. The Half Raid is a great option for juniors, teams that are new to the sport and experienced racers that are looking for a shorter race than the full raid distance.

DontGetLost Adventure Running is a not for profit organization. All proceeds from our events are used to support our Adventure Running Kids program as well as mapping activities supporting all event, clinic, and youth programs.
AWARDS & PRIZES
This year we're offering a free race technical T shirt to each participant. Please include your Tshirt size when registering. Note that entries received close to the race may not be able to specify shirt size due to the need to order in advance so please enter early! We will also have lots of draw prizes from our sponsors. Awards will be given to the first place team in all categories and to the top 3 teams in all categories with at least 10 entries.
DontGetLost Adventure Running is a not-for-profit organization and the success of our races relies on the wonderful support we get from our volunteers. We require 15-20 volunteers for each race. There are many benefits to being a DontGetLost Adventure Running Series volunteer including: having fun, get free race swag, enjoy the outdoors, learn about the sport (a great way to start), build management experience, free post-race food, and it counts towards highschool student volunteer curriculum.
