WHO ARE OUR ADVENTURE SPEAKERS?
mark

Mark Tamminga, along with his wife, Joany Verschuuren, has traveled extensively to race in some of the most exotic and tough multi-day stage running races in the world. Between 2005 and 2007, they ran three of the four stage races in Racing the Planet's 4 Deserts Series.

After winning the Atacama Crossing in 2005 in Chile and the Gobi March in China in 2006, Mark placed 2nd in the Sahara race in Egypt in late 2007. The 4th race in the series is in Antarctica, which Mark and Joany decided not to enter, preferring instead to run in the Carolinian splendour of their home turf in the Dundas Valley. We are looking forward to his inspirational stories and stunning photography in our first ever Adventure Speaker night!

Kate MacNamara burst onto the Hamilton running scene in 2005 as a surprise winner of North America's oldest road race, Around the Bay. After winning the race again the next year, Kate turned to Adventure Running for new challenges. She joined a 5-day Adventure Science running expedition to search for Steve Fossett in California and raced in Blaze: The Niagara Escarpment Race as her team completed the 900km trail in under 4 days.

Dr. Mark Tarnopolsky is a McMaster professor, physician and medical researcher and also a dad and coach with Adventure Running Kids. Mark has enormous experience as an elite endurance athlete through trail racing, skiing and adventure racing.
