Golden Horseshoe Orienteering's Jakob Van Dorp is off to New Zealand for the Speight’s Coast to Coast / World Multisport Championships, a 1-day 150-mile event across the Southern Alps that includes road cycling, mountain running, and whitewater kayaking. Van Dorp, a former world junior quadrathlon champion, who lives on the Bruce Peninsula in Wiarton marked his return to racing in 2009 with the Blaze the Niagara Escarpment Relay. He also won the coed category in the Salomon Dontgetlost.ca Raid the Hammer while teamed up with Bob Miller and Kate MacNamara.

The coast-to-coast race starts at 12 noon EST on February 12 (6 AM on February 13 in New Zealand), with top contenders finishing between 11 pm and midnight.
