Location: Horseshoe Resort, Barrie, Ontario
Course & Categories

This race is a team based snowshoe race combined with navigation by map and compass. Competitors will travel off-trail to checkpoints located throughout the stunning Copeland Forest in Horseshoe Valley. You can go as hard, or as easy as you like, however the more checkpoints you collect the higher you'll rank. Teams of two will have up to 3-hours to collect as many checkpoints as possible. Need a team member? 

Teams of 2 (Coed, Male, Female, Masters, Super-Masters, Family, Juniors).

Masters teams must have a combined age of 90 or over, over, while Super-Masters must have a combined age of 120 or over. Family teams consist of one parent and one child (< 13). Junior teams must have both team members between the ages of 14 and 18. Ages as of Dec. 31, 2011.

Schedule:

Race Kit Pick-up: 8:30 - 10:00am (Pre-marked maps distributed with race kits)

Race Briefing: 10:00am

Race Start: 10:30am

Course Cut-Off: 1:30pm

Awards & Post Race Meal: 11:30am - 4:30pm

Entry fee:

COED, MALE, FEMALE, MASTERS and SUPER-MASTERS categories: Early bird $100/team (before Dec. 31st, 2010); Regular $115/team (before Feb. 6th, 2011); Late $130/team (before Feb. 16th, 2011). Registration Closes at midnight on Wednesday February 16, 2011.

FAMILY and JUNIORS categories: $60/team (before Feb. 16th, 20101)


Entry fee does not include the Zone4 service charge. Note that an equivalent administration fee will be charged on entries purchased outside the online system.


Refund policy: In the event that a registered team cannot participate in the event, we will refund 100% of the registration fee less a $15 administration fee up to February 4, 2011. Only 50% of the registration fee will be refunded between Feb. 4 and Feb. 16, 2011. After Feb. 16, 2011 no refund will be provided.

NEW Directions:
Just 1 hour north of Toronto off Highway 400 at Exit 117 East, turn right onto Horseshoe Valley Road and you're just 5 minutes away from Ontario's most complete resort. Race headquarters will be located at the Highlands Golf Course Clubhouse.  Directions to the Clubhouse if driving from the Toronto area:
  • Take Highway 400 north, just past Barrie's Duckworth Street exit, stay to the right when the highway splits.
  • Continue on the 400 extension (towards Parry Sound)  Continue on Highway 400 to exit #117 - Horseshoe Valley Road (the next exit after Forbes Road exit)
  • Exit off the northbound highway and stay to the right-East on Horseshoe Valley Road and proceed straight through the lights at Craighurst (Highway 93)
  • Travel approximately 5km on Horseshoe Valley Road, just past the golf course on your left, turn right on to the 3rd line North.
  • Take the first street on left – Highland Drive and drive approximately ½ km to Highlands Golf Course Clubhouse on the right.
If you are renting snowshoes from Horseshoe Resort, you'll need to pick them up and drop them off at the Cross-Country Ski Chalet, which is located on Horseshoe Valley Road in the resort proper, on the left side (if coming from the south) at the bottom of the big hill.

Horseshoe Resort has graciously offered discounted room rates for Snowshoe Raid participants as follows:
Room Rate: $99 per night for a basic room w/ 2 double beds

Rooms are limited, so those interested should call ASAP to avoid disappointment.  If you've already booked reservations with Horseshoe Resort for the same type of room offered above, you can call and have the rate applied.

SNOWSHOE RENTALS!

HORSESHOE RESORT X-COUNTRY CHALET - The cross country ski chalet at Horseshoe Resort has snowshoes available to rent for $12 per pair for the race. In order to rent snowshoes from Horseshoe Resort you must call the X-country ski chalet @ 705-835-2790 (ext. 1260) and arrange your rental. They have a variety of styles and sizes available, and they will be allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis the morning of the race.

SOJOURN - "BARRIE'S LEADING OUTDOOR STORE" - Sojourn has a wide variety of snowshoes available for rent ($15 per day), or purchase.  For people renting from Sojourn, we’ve arranged to have them picked up and brought to Horseshoe Resort for you.  However, you’ll be required to return them to Sojourn on Saturday after the event before 5:30pm.  Rentals booked through Sojourn need to made before noon on Friday February 19, 2010 if you want the snowshoes delivered to Horseshoe Resort for you.  Sojourn is located in the south end of Barrie, just off Hwy 400 at the Mapleview Drive exit.  Please call the store @ 705-739-9694 to arrange your rentals, be sure to tell them you’re with the Snowshoe Raid.  For directions to Sojourn, please visit their website @ www.sojournoutdoors.com
