2010-2011 SALOMON DONTGETLOST.CA ADVENTURE RUNNING SERIES TRAINING EVENT

** NEW FOR THE 2010-2011: We have re-named our training events as ENDUROS. We now offer three courses at our training events. ENDURO, HALF-ENDURO, and KIDS ENDURO.

INTRODUCTION: There is no better way to prepare for the Salomon Dontgetlost.ca Raid the Hammer than training at the Peak-2-Peak Enduro training event this year. This year's Peak-2-Peak takes place in an area recently used for a Raid the Hammer race and includes sections along the Niagara Escarpment (terrain very similar to this year's Raid the Hammer).  Many of the same types of adventure running and orienteering will be tested in the Enduro training course. This course is ~10K long. Is 10K too long? Don't worry we now have a Half Enduro for your team to rackle. Train as a team or train on your own. Several of the checkpoints will be located on tops of peaks (hills, knolls, the odd mountain perhaps) - hence the race name 'Peak-2-Peak'.

COURSES: Enduro (~10km), Half-Enduro (~5km), Kids Enduro (~2.5km)

SCHEDULE:

0930-1000: Race kit pick-up.

1000: Introduction to Navigation mini clinic begins.

1000-1030: Enduro training event start (start any time you want)

1300: Course closes

MAP: Sassafras Woods, Burlington, Ontario (1:10,000; 5m contours; produced 2007).

TERRAIN: Escarpment  and Limestone terrain.

COST: Adults $15, Juniors (-19) $7.50, Family $35. SportIdent card rental: $2.

CATEGORIES: This Enduro is a training event and there are no categories. Instead we will randomly hand out some draw prizes at this event.

REGISTRATION: Will be available in late September. In an effort to streamline event procedures and reduce the environmental cost of printing excess maps, we are moving to an online registration system. Participants who do not register in advance are welcome to come on race day for a $17 entry fee, but please arrive early, as there will only be 10 extra maps available on a first-come, first-served basis.

This event will use Sport Ident timing. Please include your Sport Ident number when registering. If you need to rent a Sport Ident card, select the checkbox on the entry form and you will be charged a $2 rental fee.

All participants MUST pre-register using the online registration system.

DIRECTIONS: Kerncliff Park, Burlington, Ontario. From West. Exit Hwy 403 at Waterdown Road. Turn left on Waterdown and cross over 403. Turn right on North Service Road and follow to Kerns Road. Turn left on Kerns Road and continue through urban area. Kerncliff Park is on your right.  From east. Exit QEW at Brant Street. Go north on Brant Street to North Service Road. Turn left on North Service Road and follow to Kerns Road. Turn right on Kerns Road and continue through urban area. Kerncliff Park is on your right.
