This Salomon Dontgetlost.ca Adventure Running Series training event is in navigationally challenging terrain with lots of rock - in fact almost all of the checkpoints are located on ROCK features (cliffs, boulders, etc.)  The HARD ROCK ENDURO is an excellent training opportunity for the Salomon Giant's Rib Raid! Run the Hard Rock on your own or as a team and prepare for the 2011 Dontgetlost.ca Salomon Giant's RIb Raid.

NEW TRAINING COURSES FOR 2011!

Just like in our RAID races participants now have the choice of three different courses. The Enduro, Half-Enduro and Kids Enduro. The Enduro is ~10km in length with a few advanced navigation sections and has been designed for participants training for a full length RAID course at the Salomon Giant's Rib Raid. The Half-Enduro is ~5km in length and is designed for participants preparing for the Half-Raid. The Kids Enduro is ~2-2.5km in length and is designed for kids under the age of 15 and also for families and novice adventure runners.

Dontgetlost.ca has added a freenavigation clinic to this event and brought in Salomon Dontgetlost.ca Raid the Hammer course planner, Hans Fransson to design the Enduro and Half-Enduro courses.

SCHEDULE:

0930-1000: Registration and race kit pick-up.

0945:  Navigation clinic

1000-1100: Training event start (start any time you want)

1300: Course closes

FORMAT: Choose between our 10K Adventure Run and 2.5K "Adventure Running Kids" courses. The Adventure Running Kids course is also open to families.

LOCATION AND DIRECTIONS: RONA by Clappisons Corner in Waterdown. From 403, take Hwy 6 north, towards Guelph, turn east on Hwy 5/Dundas St. Rona is south of Hwy 5/Dundas St. From 401, take Hwy 6 south, towards Hamilton, and follow directions as above.

COST: Adults $15, Juniors (-19) $7.50, Family $35. SportIdent card rental: $2

CATEGORIES: This event is a training event for the Salomon Dontgetlost.ca Giant's Rib Raid and there are no categories. Instead we will randomly hand out some draw prizes at this event.

REGISTRATION: Online registration.     Confirmed participants.

In an effort to streamline event procedures and reduce the environmental cost of printing excess maps, we have moved to an online registration system. Participants who do not register in advance before Thursday March 26th are welcome to come on race day for a $20 entry fee, but please arrive early, as there will only be 15 extra maps available on a first-come, first-served basis.  This event will use Sport Ident timing. Please include your Sport Ident number when registering. If you need to rent a Sport Ident card, select the checkbox on the entry form and you will be charged a $2 rental fee.

GEAR: Required gear includes a whistle, compass, Sport Ident card (available for rent).

HEALTH AND FITNESS EXPO: While in the Hamilton area check out the Salomon Dontgetlost.ca Adventure Running Series and AdventureRunningKids.ca booth at the Around the Bay Road Race Health and Fitness Expo.
