DONTGETLOST.CA ADVENTURE RUNNING TRAINING

To improve as an adventure runner, adventure racer, orienteer or trail runner one must be able to run faster and stronger in a variety of terrain. Therefore all the technical aspects adventure running that a participant could face during a race must be practiced. Dongetlost.ca Adventure Running offers training opportunities three times a week from September to June and is open to Golden Horseshoe Orienteering members only.


TUESDAYS:   TUESDAY NIGHT TRAINING (17:30)

Our main interval running training session each week is Tuesday Nite Training (TNT) on Tuesday evenings at 5:30 pm. We meet in the parking lot at the Chedoke Golf Course in Hamilton. Bring a head lamp. We begin with a leisurely jog and then break into different groups for the intervals. Adventure Runners, trail runners and adventure racers of all fitness levels are welcome. Directions to Chedoke Golf Club are here: Exit Hwy 403 in Hamilton at Aberdeen. Follow Aberdeen east under the railway tracks turn right just after the tracks on Studholme Rd. Follow Studholme to Beddoe Drive.Turn left on Beddoe and follow this road up the hill to the parking lot.


THURSDAYS:   ADVENTURE RUNNING NITES (17:30)

Adventure Running Nites take place on Thursday nites a 5:30 pm. These training nites alternate each week between a night of "Trails & Hills" and a night of "Nav & Adventure"  training. Each training session begins with an optional warm-up run and then participants have the choice of taking on a 2 or 5 km course.  Most weeks meet at the Chedoke Golf Club (directions above) but please check the full schedule with more information click here.


SATURDAYS:  SATURDAY MORNING TERRAIN RUN  (08:00)

We  kick off the weekend with a long run, which includes forest and trails. We meet by the trailhead of the Hamilton-Brantford Rail Trail at 8 am. Each run is designed with short-cut loops so runners of all abilities can join in on the fun. Here is a Youtube video of a few of the club members training in November and December, 2008. Directions to the Rail Trail parking lot: Exit from Highway 403 at the Main Street West exit, follow Main Street westerly, you will pass the university on your right, then about one km later turn left (south) at Ewan Road. Drive a short block, turn right, and after a short distance turn right into the parking lot.
